Topics Covered
Caring for living things
An ideal introduction to animal handling for younger children. Aimed at reception, this talk introduces children to the Animal Kingdom in a fun and memorable way. A variety of animals will be used ranging from domestic animals to the more exotic.
Pets and other animals
This topic looks at different types of animals ranging from domestic and zoo to farm animals. Aimed at a younger audience, this discusses why we have pets and why some animals do not make good pets.
Lifecycles
This topic looks at the lifecycles of different animals ranging from insects to mammals. We will discuss how this differs to humans and what other animals follow similar life cycles.
Minibeasts
Aimed at reception / Year 1, this topic looks at invertebrates and demonstrates how animals adapt without a backbone. We will also throw in a few vertebrates and see how many children can guess if the animals are minibeasts.
Endangered animals
Aimed at an older audience, this topic discusses what it means to be endangered and why many animals face extinction. We will discuss what can we do to protect them and what organisations exist to combat extinction.
Food webs
This topic is aimed at an older audience and looks at how all life depends on the sun, how the flow of energy works and what happens when it is broken. We will also look at what the effects are when different animals are moved out of the food chain.
Classification of vertebrates and invertebrates
Welcome to the world of taxonomy. Using animals to illustrate different areas of classification, we will look at how Classification of Living Things is organised and which animals fall into each area. This is aimed at an older audience.
Habitats
During this topic we will find out how animals have adopted to living in different habitats and what effect damage and destruction may have.
The Rainforest
What is a Rainforest? This topic provides a journey through the layers of the rainforest. Starting from the forest floor a range of animals will be used to demonstrate why certain animals can live in some parts of the Rainforests and not others. We will look at how a Rainforest is made up and the effects that their destruction is having.
Senses and Textures
Aimed at Reception / Year 1, this topic looks at our senses and how the senses of the animals differ. We will also look at different textures on the animals and discuss how they feel.
Springtime
A topic based around spring, this show looks at lifecycles and the new life that abounds at this time of the year. This is aimed at Reception / Year 1.
